Coach | Seeker | Creative
I’m Kate Hughes—coach, seeker, and creative strategist with a no-BS approach to transformation. Certified through the Life Purpose Institute, I help people break free from the narratives that keep them stuck, reconnect with their inner wisdom, and build the kind of resilience and mental clarity needed to live a peaceful life. My approach isn’t about surface-level positivity or waiting for the universe to drop answers in your lap—I believe in challenging the stories you tell yourself, disrupting what isn’t working, and guiding you toward clarity and unshakable confidence.
With a BFA from the School of Visual Arts (SVA), I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of creativity, psychology, and human connection. My curiosity has taken me to over 20 countries—from Russia and China to Prague and Budapest, from Northern Africa to Ireland, the UK, and across Europe and Italy—seeking deeper understanding, human truth, and the beauty of diverse cultures. Each experience has opened my eyes and broadened my perspective in ways I never imagined.
I’m no stranger to hard work. I’ve run multiple marathons, completed a full-distance 140.6 Ironman triathlon in 2018—just 18 months after hip labrum repair surgery—and in 2021, I swam 5.5 miles across the Great South Bay in the Maggie Fischer Cross Bay Swim. In July 2023, while training for the SOS Triathlon, I had a bike accident that forced me to shift my focus from chasing finish lines to healing my body. While my training has slowed, my drive to push limits hasn’t. Now, I’m rebuilding—because resilience isn’t just about finishing races, it’s about how you show up when things fall apart.
I’ve studied Buddhism for over 10 years and spent five of those in a foundational program with Kadampa Buddhism, deepening my understanding of meditation, the mind, and the nature of reality. My personal and professional philosophy is also shaped by hundreds of hours of study with some of the most influential thinkers in psychology, philosophy, and spirituality, including Dale Carnegie, Alan Watts, Anthony de Mello, Dr. David Hawkins, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, and Daniel Goleman. I have previously studied sound healing with Donna L. Nesteruk, LAc, and currently, I’m diving into Fuzzy Logic with Dr. John Beaulieu —because learning never stops, and the mind is far more powerful than we give it credit for.
I have a 15+ year background in design, marketing, and brand development and management, giving me a deep understanding of how businesses thrive. For my small business clients, I bring real-world expertise—helping them cut through the noise and master the ins and outs of launching and growing a brand. As an artist, I look at things holistically—through the lens of conversion, user experience, and embodiment—so that business isn’t just functional but aligned, intuitive, and impactful.
Beyond my studies, my wisdom comes from lived experience. I know what it’s like to face some of life’s hardest moments —two divorces, loving an alcoholic, disordered eating, the death of friends, and the loss of my mother. Grief, love, resilience, and rebuilding are not just concepts I talk about; they are experiences I’ve lived through and learned from. These moments have shaped my approach, allowing me to guide others with both understanding and directness.
Through Unbound Seeker, I don’t just offer coaching—I offer disruption. I’m here to wake you up, challenge your perspective, and help you break free from whatever’s holding you back. Growth isn’t about becoming someone new; it’s about unbinding yourself from the conditioning, fear, and self-doubt that keep you small. My work blends Eastern and Western philosophy, sharp intuition, and a little tough love—because clarity doesn’t come from sitting still, and resilience is built in the fire.
While I embody being a compassionate witness for you and respect and meet you where you are, if you are wanting sugar-coating, I am probably not your person. Like Brené Brown says, clear is kind, and I always push with clarity. I lead with allowing your mind to stay open and curious.
